4746 – Uric acid
The uric acid results from the degradation of nucleic acids representing the end product of purine metabolism. In the liver, it is carried by the plasma to the kidneys, where it is filtered and excreted at a rate of about 70%. The uric acid residue is eliminated and degraded in the gastrointestinal tract.
