Tylosin is an antibiotic of the macrolidic type from the cultures of Streptomyces fradiae. It is active against many gram-positive bacteria (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Actinomyces spp., Corynebacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Erysipelothrix spp.), gram-negative bacteria (Actinobacillus spp., Bordetella spp., E.coli, Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus sps., Fusobacterium spp.,Campylobacter etc), precum and Mycoplasma spp ., Chlamydia spp., Spirochete, (Brachyspira spp., Leptospira spp.). Given i.m. it is absorbed in 1-2 hours.
After a parenteral administration to lactating cows, antibiotic levels found in breast milk are five times higher than normal serum levels, allowing tylosin to be recommended for the treatment of mastitis.More info

Recommended in the treatment of respiratory infections, digestive and genito-urinary diseases, arthritis, poliserositis, secondary infections associated with viral diseases or post-operative infections, external otitis.
Apply to the treatment of specific diseases, such as:
- dysentery and pneumonia as regards to swine
- metritis, mastitis and respiratory infections in cattle
- acute forms of contagious agalactia and pleuropneumonia in sheep and goats
- respiratory infections, aerosaculitis in adult hens
Administered intramuscularly daily for 3-5 days, in the following dosage:
Bovine: 2,5 – 5 ml product /100 kg g.c ( 5 – 10 mg s.a/kg g.c), (max. 10 ml product on the place of injection);
Veals: 1,5 – 2 ml product /50 kg g.c ( 6 – 8 mg s.a/kg g.c), (max. 5 ml product on the place of injection);
Swine: 0,5 – 1 ml product /20 kg g.c ( 5 – 10 mg s.a/kg g.c), (max. 5 ml product on the place of injection);
Ovine, goats: 1 ml product /20 kg g.c (10 mg s.a/kg g.c);
Dogs, cats: 0,25 – 1 ml product /10 kg g.c ( 5 – 20 mg s.a/kg g.c);
Adult hens: 0,05 – 0,2 ml product / kg g.c ( 10 – 40 mg s.a/kg g.c).
In particular epidemiological situations, but also to the indication of the veterinarian, the product can be administered in the same dose every 12 hours for 3-5 days.
If the animals do not present an improved state of health, consult the veterinarian for the revaluation of the diagnosis.
Do not use in birds whose eggs are intended for human consumption. Not given to chickens and turkeys. Do not mix with other injections because the solution can precipitate. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the tylosin macrolide antibiotics or any of the excipients. At the site of inoculation edema can easily appear. If there are lumps at the injection site, treated animals will not be sacrificed for 21 days.
Can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
Tylosin acts antagonist with many other antibiotics such as penicillin, aminoglycosides, cloranfenicol, and lincosamides. Tylosin is relatively safe in accidental overdoses. In some cases, seizures may be seen. Tylosin is incompatible with heparin sodium, tetracyclines, streptomycin and hydrocortisone.
Meat and organs: cattle, sheep, goats, swine – 8 days; poultry – 5 days
Milk: cattle, sheep, goats- 4 days
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25° C. Protect from light. Keep away from frost.
Glass bottles of 100 ml solution, equipped with a rubber stopper and a metal cap.
