1 ml contains:
Acepromazine maleate…………………………………….. 10 mg
Sodium metabisulfite………………………………………… 1 mg
Sodium chloride, Sodium citrate, Water for injections.
Acepromazine maleate is a phenothiazine derivative with antipsychotic properties. Pharmacodynamic actions are determined by central recreational properties, represented by inhibiting the psychomotor activity, relaxation of intestinal smooth muscle and producing peripheral vasodilatation. Sleep caused by Acepromazine maleate is chemically identical to the physiological chemicaly and electroencephalographic and can be cut easily. The effect installs after 5-7 minutes after intravenous administration or in case of intramuscular administration 20-30 minutes.More info
Horses, dogs and cats.
SEDAM – solution for injection is indicated in the following situations:
- calming animals for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions (opening abscesses, injections, punctures), with relaxing effect on smooth muscle
- Premedication of narcosis or local anesthesia
- Prevention and control of post-operative shock
- Relieve pain and colics of various etiologies
- Treatment of abnormal behavior (aggression, etc.)
- Adjuvant in neoplasia and pruritic dermatoses
- Severe neurotoxic conditions
Administered by intramuscular route or intravenous (slow) in a single administration, according to animal species:
Intramuscularly: 0.5 – 1 ml product / 100 kg bw (0.05 to 0.1 mg Acepromazine maleate / kg bw);
Intravenously: 1 ml product / 100 kg bw (0.1 mg Acepromazine maleate / kg bw);
Intramuscularly or intravenously: 0.02 to 0.03 ml product / kg bw (0.2 – 0.3 mg Acepromazine maleate / kg bw).
Do not use in state of leukopaenia. Do not use in animals suffering from hypothermia, hepatic dysfunction, serious heart and kidney problems. Do not use in dogs from Boxer breed with known hypersensitivity at hypotensive and bradycardic effects of acepromazine maleate. Terrier breed dogs may exhibit resistance. In case of surgery, animals pre-treated with Acepromazine will receive lower doses of general anesthetics.
Administer with caution in animals with antiparasitic collars. The product is well tolerated in general. The most common side effects of acepromazine administration are cardiac (hypotension, bradycardia), manifested especially in dogs. Occasionally, after administration of the product, the animals may have allergic reactions or symptoms of contradictory aggression or stimulating the central nervous system. Avoid combination with medicines that suppress the bone marrow function as: phenylbutazone, chloramphenicol, metiltiouracil, cytostatics. Do not use in conjunction with organophosphorus ectoparasite products (including collars). Do not use in combination with procaine hydrochloride because it enhances the activity of acepromazine. Do not administer concurrently with antidepressant agents in the CNS (barbiturates, narcotics, etc.). because it may exacerbate depression.
Do not administer simultaneously with quinidine (can cause cumulative side effects on the cardiac system) with propranolol (may cause increases in blood concentrations for both drugs) and epinephrine ( causes venous dilatation and increased heart rate).
Acepromazine phenytoin _ slows down metabolism, when used simultaneously with the product. Product overdose can lead to cardiac arrest. Studies have shown that diazepam and glycopyrrolate are incompatible with acepromazine.
Do not use in horses whose meat is destined for human consumption.
Store at temperatures below 25 ° C. Protect from direct light. Protect from freezing.
