PYRATEL EQ, by its active component pyrantel pamoate from the tetrahidropirimidine cathegory is active against gastrointestinal nematodes and some cestodes, acting as a neuromuscular blocking agentthat paralyzes the parasite’s muscles.
This permits that the normal intestinal peristaltic moves reject the parasite.
Pyrantel pamoate is little absorbed in the intestine. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 2 or 3 hours. It is rapidly metabolized and it is removed at a rate of 35- 50% in the most part of fecals, being most active against the parasites in the large intestine.
Because of its colinergic action (nicotinic type) it is not recommended to be associated with parasimpaticomimetic substances and organophosphorical compounds.More info
