PYRATEL CD by its active components – pyrantel pamoate, acts against endoparasites from the gastrointestinal nematodes class: Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala found in dogs and cats. Pyrantel pamoate is a depolarizing neuromulcular blocking agent, that exerts its antihelminthic effects by releasing acetilcholyne and the inhibition of colinesterases, resulting the stimulation of receptors from the sensitive intestinal. This produces the muscle membrane depolarization producing the parsite paralysis. The paralised helmits are expelled from the gastro-intestinal tract by the normal peristaltism.More info
Dogs and cats.
PYRATEL CD is administered to dogs and cats for treatment of parasitosis due to the following gastrointestinal nematodes: Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala.
PYRATEL CD is especially indicated for deparasitation young starting from 2 weeks of age and animals during pregnancy and lactation.
It is used in routine deworming, before vaccinations, in infestations with intestinal worms.
PYRATEL CD suspension is administered per os (orally), with a syringe, directly in the oral cavity or mixed in food, in the following dose:
Dogs: 1 ml PYRATEL CD/ kg g.c. (5 mg pyrantel/kg g.c.).
Cats: 4 ml PYRATEL CD/ kg g.c. (20 mg pyrantel/kg g.c.).
For infestation control:
First treatment is done in the 14th day of life, the following ones being done at 2 weeks intervals until 10 weeks of age. If the infestation persists, it is recommended to continue the treatment at a two weeks interval until the animal is 12 weeks of age.
For animals that live in satisfactory hygienic conditions, it is enough that they are treated regularly at 3 months intervals. In poor hygiene cases and in conditions of excessive heat and humidity, that favors the development of parasites, the animals must be treated after the doctor’s advice.
Cats must be treated at 2, 4 and 6 weeks after every cycle. Pregnant females must be treated with almost 10 days before giving birth and at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks after every birth (together with their young). Outside these periods the treatment of animals which live in proper hygienic conditions will be repeated at 3 months intervals.
In parasitic infestations the animal must be treated with a first dose and then the treatment is repeated at every 2 – 3 weeks because a good protection raises the vitality of the treated animal. These measures are justified by the fact that every dog or cat infested with parasites is a threat for the health of people around it (especially for children). No diet measures are necessary before the product administration. In case of reinfestation ask for the veterinarian’s advice regarding the frequency of the product administration and the necessity of the treatment repeat.
Rarely vomiting or diarrhea may occur after the product administration. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. It is not recommended the simultaneous treatment with products that contain: morantel, levamisol, piperazine and oranophosphoric compuonds. Administered in 5 times higher dose than the recommended one, it has no adverse effects. Overdose should be avoided.
Temperature below 25°C. Keep away from direct light and freezing.
