PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC ACTION

Oxytetracycline is an antibiotic from the tetracycline group produced by Streptomyces rimosus that acts bacteriostatic against Gram-positive (Actinomyces spp Bacilus anthtracis, Clostridium perfigens, Clostridium tetani, Listeria monocytogenes, Nocardia) and Gram-negative germs (Bordetella spp, Brucella, Bartonella, Haemophilus spp, Pasteurella multocida, Shigella, Yersinia pestis) mycoplasmas, chlamydiae, rickettsiae and protozoa.

Neomycin is a bactericidal aminoglycoside antibiotic used against the most important Gram-positive and Gram-negative intestinal pathogens (Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp, Proteus spp, Klebsiella spp, Brucella abortus, Staphylococcus albus and so on). Neomycin acts on the entire digestive tract and remain active in the intestines in the presence of food, digestive enzymes, pus, necrotic tissues and at different pH values.

The vitamins in the medicated premix exert a complex biostimulator effect on the body, increasing nonspecific resistance. The collector of mycotoxins inactivates the action of the mycotoxins in the feed during all phases of digestion.

INDICATIONS

MEDICATED PREMIX FOR CHICKENS is a formula designed for livestock in households. It is indicated in chickens in the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to oxytetracycline and neomycin, especially bacterial enteritis.

DOSAGE, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

The medicated premix needs to be administered to chickens mixed with concentrated feed (corn, bran, middlings, etc.) at a 10% rate (1 kg medicated premix to 9 kg feed) for 5-7 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS, PRECAUTIONS AND SIDE EFFECTS

Do not use in chickens that are allergic to tetracyclines and have hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides. Not to be used 3 days before and after vaccination with live bacterial vaccines. The product should not be used as such. Digestive disorders and poor absorption in the gut can occur rarely. Should not be associated with antibiotics or other drugs that may add their toxicity to that of neomycin sulphate namely streptomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin, colistin.

Tetracyclines should not be overdosed because they produce intestinal dismicrobism and negative effects on calcification. Because of poor absorption of neomycin, oral overdose should be avoided. Oxytetracycline is inactivated by sodium lactate, oxacillin, promethazine.

It acts antagonistically to penicillin.
