The two active substances have defined roles in the insecticidal / acaricidal and ovicidal product.
Fipronil is an insecticide / acaricide from the phenylpyrazole class. It acts by interacting with ion channels chlorine involved in neurotransmitter GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid), blocking the pre- and post-synaptic transfer of chloride ions, across the cell membrane, resulting in an uncontrolled activity of the nervous system and death of insects / mites.
Fipronil acts upon insects / mites in all stages of development.
Pyriproxyfen does not kill adult insects, but his action is complemented by the presence of the insecticide fipronil.
Pyriproxifenul affects the growth of the insect mimicking the juvenile hormone.
The contact with eggs laid by adult females, prevents their hatching and the larvae does no longer turn into adult fleas. Because of the discontinuity in such evolutionary cycle, will ultimately lead to a significant decrease in the number of insects / mites.
The exipients of the product cause, after application, that the active substances to be absorbed in 24-48 hours via seborrheic layer of the skin. They will be collected in the sebaceous glands, where they slowly release on the surface of the hair.
Fipronil is not absorbed systemically.
The prolonged action of fipronil is due to the fact that the product resulting from metabolization (sulfonate) has properties as insecticides / acaricides.More info
