1 powder gram contains:
Neomycin (as sulphate) ………………………………… 100 mg
Excipient (Monohydrate lactose) q.s.ad…………………. 1 g
Neomycin is an bactericide aminoglicozidic antibiotic used against the most important pathogenic intestinal bacteria, Gram-negative and Gram-positive (Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Brucella abortus etc.).
Neomycin acts at the level of the whole digestive tube due to the low absorption and rests active in the intestines under the presence of food, digestive ferments, broken tissues, as well as to different pH values.More info
Bovine, horses, ovine, goats, swine, poultry (layers, broiler chickens), dogs, cats, mink.
The product, NEOMYCIN SULFAT FP 10% – oral powder is recommended in the treatment of bacterial entherites produced by pathogenic intestinal bacteria sensitive to neomycin for the bovine, ovine, goats, swine, poultry, dogs, cats and minks.
The product is orally, individually or collectively administered (in feeds or in drinking water), at different doses, depending on species, category of animals and disorder:
Cattle, recreational horses, sheep, goat, dogs, cats, mink:
- 70 – 210 mg Neomycin sulfate FP 10% (7-21 mg a.s./kg l.w./day) for up to 14 days
Birds (layers, broilers):
- 70 – 210 mg Neomycin sulfate FP 10% (7-21 mg a.s./kg l.w./day) for 3 – 5 days.
In drinking water: estimate the body weight (kg) and the necessary amount of water for one day in order to obtain the optimal concentration: 2 g powder/10 kg kg body weight.
In feed: 2 kg powder/ton of feed.
If the animals do not show an improvement of the health state, consult the veterinarian, for the reevaluation of the diagnosis.
It is not used for the horses designed to human consumption. It is not administered 3 days before and after the inoculations with live bacterial vaccins. The medicined water must be entirely consumed, on the preparation day. The product must not be administered as that. Neomycin orally administered together with penicilina V, potasium determine a low penicilina absorption and decrease the absorption of vitamin K, potentiating this way the action of anti-coaggulants.
Also, neomycin decreases the absorption of metotrexate, increasing the intestinal excretion, decreasing at the same time the urinary excretion as consequence of decreasing its metabolism. Administered concomitantly with dimenhidrinate, this masks the incipient oto-toxicity symptoms induced by neomycin.
The association with streptomicina, kanamicina, gentamicin, paramomicina and colistine that add their toxicity to the one of the neomycin sulphate may lead to the renal harm.
The association with anesthesic substances may produce neuromuscular block. Due to the low absorption of neomycin, the oral overdosing must be avoided. Sulphate neomycin is not administered togethwr with steptomicina, kanamicina, gentamicin, colistine because they increase the toxicity of neomycin over the kidneys.
Meat and organs: calves, lambs, kids – 5 days; pigs – 4 days; layers, broilers – 3 days
