MEDIODINE OINTMENT – based on water-soluble complex of iodine with polyvinylpyrrolidone – is a product that slowly releases iodine when the product comes into contact with skin or mucous membranes (except conjunctival mucosa). Iodine released acts against a broad spectrum of Gram – positive and Gram – negative bacteria, against viruses, fungi and protozoa. The product does not irritate tissues, it is non-toxic, does not stain the treated area.
The organic iodine complex is miscible with water in any proportion and has the advantage that slowly releases iodine when in contact with tissues. By introducing the iodine-povidone complex into a water-soluble base of polyethylene glycol, MEDIODINE OINTMENT has the advantage that it adheres well on treated areas and moist portions of the wound, is washable and can easily be removed from the skin. Also, using a a water-soluble ointment base gives a drying and astringent action, making wounds dry faster.More info
