INDICATIONS

Prevention and control of gangrenous mastitis at pregnant and lactant sheep and goats The product is recommended for the active immunization of the two target species and prevention of infection, mortality, clinical signs and lesions. The immunity installs at 21 day after the rappel and has a period of 6 months, covering the lactation season. The inoculation is made for the pregnant animals, except for the last pregnancy month.

 

POSOLOGY, ADMINISTRATION WAY AND MODE

The vaccine is administered in a dose of 3 ml. by inoculation s.c. behind the elbow or at the bottom of the tail. All the animals after 21 days from the first inoculation will be re-inoculated with the same dose. The product is administered at the room temperature after a prior homogenization, using individual needles and sterile syringes (for a single use).

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS, CAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS

An edema occurs at the inoculation place, which disappears after 24 – 48 hours, letting a nodule of 2 cm, which is resorbed along time. Sometimes, low systemic reactions occur (tremblings and temperature temporary increment), which disappear after 12 – 24 hours. The animals tolerate two vaccine doses without local or general changes. Although, a limited number of anaphilactic reactions may occur, a situation whereby an anti-hystaminic product will be administer (e.g. epinephrine). All these reactions are seldom met, have a short/ limited period and do not influence significantly the general sanitary state of the animals.

The inoculation is not applied for: females in the first pregnancy month; stressed animals; animals with infectious or parasitic diseases; immunosupressed animals. The animals will be surveilled 1 – 2 hours after the inoculation. If necessary, the lactant females are inoculated. The vaccine is not administered concomitantly with another product and at a shorter range of time than 14 days from other inoculations and at 12 days after the anti-parasitic treatments.  The staff that administers the vaccine will wear the usual protective equipment, without other special cautions. It is recommended to use the whole content of the phyal after its opening and no later than 8 hours.

 

MAINTENANCE CONDITIONS

To be kept and transported under refrigeration conditions (at 2 – 8°C), protected against light and frost.

It is packed in plastic phyals of 100 ml with 33 doses.
