COMPOZITION

1 g of Otic solution contains:

Ivermectin………………………………………………….. 0.03 mg

Excipients:

Methylparahydroxybenzoate………………………….. 2.0 mg

Propylparahydroxybenzoate……………………………1.0 mg

Glycerin, Propylene glycol.

 

PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC ACTION

Ivermectin is a macrocyclic lactone class antiparasitic substance isolated from the product obtained by fermentation of actinomycetes called Streptomyces avermitilis. IVER-MITE otic solution contains the active substance ivermectin antiparasitic effect scabicid substance that acts by increasing the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions with hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cell, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite, also causes secretion of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA ) at nerve synapses of the parasite, leading to interruption of nerve impulses.

INDICATIONS

In the control and treatment of s auricular scabies.

 

DOSAGE, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

Clean the animal’s ear with a wax remover solution – Otto cleans. Shall be instilled in the ear from 2 to 5 drops of product, then gently massage the ear, favoring direct contact between drug and ectoparasites. After a few minutes remove the excess product by dabbing softly the with cotton wool. Administer 4 treatments every 3 days or follow veterinary advice.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS, PRECAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS

Do not use to treat parasites to hypersensitive animals. Do not administer ivermectin to puppies under 2 months or to weak or to convalescent animals. Do not use the for Collie breed and its half-breeds (due to potentially toxic side effects), this being a very sensitive breed.

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Can be used during pregnancy and lactation. While generally well tolerated, ivermectin can cause unpleasant side effects if the administered dose is high. Symptoms of drug overdose or toxicity include: tremors, unsteady gait, prevented, temporary blindness, dilated pupils, disorientation, weakness, lack of appetite, vomiting, profuse salivation, difficulty breathing or rapid, symptoms generally appear at 12 hours after administration.
