Sulfadimethoxine ….…………………….…….…125 mg

Excipients: P.a Sodium hydroxide, Purified water.

Sulfadimethoxine is a chemo-therapeutic substance of the sulphamide group with a quite wide spectrum, of which purely bacterio-static action is due to the competitive antagonism towards the p-aminobenzoic acid, operating as H1. The sulphamides are substances with a bacteriostatic action, their action being proportional to the role of the p-amino-benzoic acid, in the cellular metabolism (either as that, or as precursor of the folic acid). The entheral absorption of Sulfadimethoxine is full, it is generally fast absorbed from the intestinal tract, its tissue diffusion being good. Its removal is slow, as that or as metabolic products, through the urine, bladder under acetylate form.

Due to its action range, Enteroxin 12.5% – oral suspension is efficient for the treatment of infections with Gram-positive germs (streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci, Clostridium tetani, Bacillus anthracis), with Gram-negative germs (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Shigella spp., Haemophyllus influenzae, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp.)..). It has also an activity towards certain rickettsi and protozoa (Toxoplasma, Coccidia).

The product is recommended for the bovine (calves for meat and heifers),in the treatment of certain respiratory and digestive infections caused by germs sensitive to active substance (transport fever, pneumonias associated with Pasteurella spp.), and of necro-baciloses associated with Sphaerophorus necrophorus sensitive to sulfadimethoxine.

For the hens (broilers) and turkey hens (broilers) the product is recommended in the incipient stage of coccidiosis, avian cholera, infectious rheum caused by the germs sensitive to active substance.

The product is orally administered in the drinking water.

For the bovine (calves for meat and heifers) the treatment is issued during 5 consecutive days: the dose on the first day is 22 ml product/ 50 kg g.c. (55 mg s.a./kg g.c.), followed by other 4 days, whereby the dose is reduced to one half 11 ml product /50 kg g.c.).

If the animals don’t show an improvement of the health state, the veterinary will be consulted, for the re-evaluation of the diagnosis.

It is not administered for the animals with serious renal and hepatic disorders. It is not administered in case of hyper-sensitivity to the active substance or to any of the Excipients. During the treatment, it will not be ensured an appropriate contribution of fluids.

It will be avoided the administration together with: oral anti-coagulating agents (stressing of the anti-coagulating action); salicylates, phenylbutazone, indometacin; oral anti-diabetics (hypoglycemia danger). It was proven that there is a synergy between trimethoprim and sulfadimethoxine.

It is not recommended the administration of the product in the mix with other antibiotics in the drinking water. Sulfadimethoxine is incompatible to the powerfully oxidation agents. The overdosing symptoms may include: depression or anorexia.
