COMPOSITION

Each troche includes:

Sulphur-adiazine……………………….………125,0 mg

Trimethoprim………………………….….……25,0 mg

Excipients: Talc, Magnesium steerage, Stearic acid, Micro-crystalline cellulosis, Monohydrate lactose, Colloid silica dioxide.

 

PHARMACO-THERAPEUTICAL ACTION

The product BISULFIM, veterinary troches, is obtained by grouping two synthesis chemo-therapeutic agents: sulphur-adiazine and trimethoprim. Combined, it synergically acts, ensuring a remarkable bactericidal effect towards a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria: Streptococcus, E. coli, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella, Bordetella, Klebsiella, Shigella, Proteus, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Staphylococcus spp., Nocardia, protozoa (Pneumicystis carini, Coccidia, Toxoplasma).

Orally administered, it is fast absorbed, it diffuses well in the organs and tissues, producing death (lysis) of bacteria on the target species (dogs and cats), independently of the localization of infections. The sulphamides are mainly removed by the urine.

INDICATIONS

BISULFIM is recommended in the primary and secondary bacterial infections with sulphur-adiazine and trimethoprim sensitive germs (respiratory, gastro-intestinal, urogenital, post-surgical infections, infections at the oral cavity level, ophthalmic and auricular, skin, septicemias, etc.).

The sulphur-adiazine and trimethoprim are active towards coci Gram–positive/negative, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Nocardia, Clostridium spp., Corinebacterium, Pseudomonas, Pasteurella, Shigella, Chlamydia, Campylobacter spp., Leptospire, Mycoplasma and Rickettsia.

 

POSOLOGY, ADMINISTRATION WAY AND MODE

BISULFIM – trochees are orally administered, as that, or are embedded in the food, after the mincing of the troche.

Dogs: it is administered 1 troche / 5 kg body weight/ day (25 mg s.a. sulphur-adiazine / 5 mg s.a.trimethoprim/kg g.c./ day),for 5-7 days.

Cats: it is administered 1 troche / 5 kg body weight/ day (25 mg s.a. sulphur-adiazine / 5 mg s.a.trimethoprim/kg g.c./ day),for 5 days.

It is recommended that the treatment continues for 2-3 days after the disappearance of symptoms. For the insurance of a correct dosing, it must be established the body weight of the animals, any time possible, to avoid the under-dosing. If the animals don’t show an improvement of the health state, the veterinary will be consulted, for the re-evaluation of the diagnosis.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS, CAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS

It is not administered for the animals with serious renal and hepatic disorders. It is not administered for the animals knows as allergic to sulfonamides and trimethoprim.

Sometimes, it may occur belches (hives), gastric irritation (anorexia, belches), polyarthritis, keratitis, and allergic reactions: itching, erythema, dermatitis, alopecia, conjunctivitis.

It is not administered for the pregnant and lactating females.

The product is incompatible to the procaine-benzyle penicillin, procaine and similar local anesthetics.

The overdosing symptoms may include: nausea, belches, diarrhea, confusion, drowsiness. On the carnivorous animals, the administration of certain high quantities of sulphamides may incur nervous phenomena, especially for the young.

MAINTENANCE CONDITIONS

To be maintained at a lower temperature than 25°C, in the original package. To be protected against light and humidity.
