COMPOSITION

100 g unguent includes:

Benzyl-penicillin (as potassium salt)……. 2.000.000 U.I.

Streptomycin (as sulphate) ……………….. 1,440,000 U.I.

Excipients: Colloid silica dioxide, Solid paraffin, Fluid paraffin.

 

PHARMACO-THERAPEUTICAL ACTION

The association of penicillin with the amino-glycosides grants the advantage of the better penetration inside the cells of antibiotic, due to the attack of the cellular wall issued by penicillin, ensuring this way, the inhibition of the bacterial synthesis processes. The product due to the two anti-microbial components it contains, is active towards the Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, involved in the skin and ocular infections.

INDICATIONS

The treatment of skin wounds and ocular disorders (conjunctivitis) on the bovine, ovine, swine, dogs and cats.

 

POSOLOGY, ADMINISTRATION WAY AND MODE

-For the treatment of skin wounds: the unguent is applied over the entire surface of wounds, once or several times daily, for 3-5 days, the used quantity of unguent depending on the extension of wounds.

- In the treatment of ocular disorders (conjunctivitis): the unguent is applied in the conjunctiva bag, once or two times daily, for 3 – 5 days, upon the veterinary’s recommendation.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS, CAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS

The treatment of the penicillin or streptomycin allergic animals will be avoided. The local or systemic allergic reactions may occur. It must not be used during the first pregnancy month.

The penicillin is incompatible to: sulphate amikacin, aminophylline, sodium cefalotin, HCl promazine chlorine, Hcl dopamines, sodic heparin, Hcl hydroxyzine, Hcl lincomycin, HCl metoclopramide, HCl oxy-tetracycline, HCl promazine, HCl promethazine, sodium bicarbonate, HCl tetracycline, complex of B and C vitamins.

The general anesthetics of the d-tubocurarine type may increase the neuromuscular blocking effect of streptomycin. On overdosing, contrary reactions, allergic reactions, respectively, may occur.

MAINTENANCE CONDITIONS

To be kept at a lower temperature than 25°C. To be protected against the direct light. To be protected against frost.
