Anthrax immunpprophylaxis. The preventive inoculation will be preferably made in the spring, 14 days before the summer of animals. Only the healthy animals are inoculated. The immunity installs after 21 days from the inoculations and lasts for 21 months.
Antravac is inoculated deeply, in a single dose, as follows:
Bovine – 0,5 ml;
Ovine – 0,2 ml (in the tail crease);
Goats – 0.1 ml (in the tail crease);
Swine – 0,2 ml;
Horses – 0,2 ml.
The following animals are not inoculated: below the recommended age for each species; weakened, cachectic, febrile; on the last pregnancy month, due to the mechanical abortions that may occur and during the first 3 post-parturition weeks; the sheep, 5 days before and after the cropping and anti-parasitic bathes; intramuscular. The inoculation must not be made simultaneously with those for other diseases; these vaccines will be taken 21 days before the inoculation against anthrax. In the areas where it is pasteurolosis, emphysematous carbon or other anaerobioses, the inoculation for it is made 21 days before the inoculation against anthrax.
Light edemas may occur at the inoculation place, and also, sometimes, an insignificant decrease of milk production, which will be remade within 2 – 3 days. The cases with stressed post-inoculated reactions occur very seldom, expressed by fever and larger edemas, which persist for a few days; these animals must be sheltered and applied cold compresses. If the fever persists, and the edema becomes slope, the animals must be treated with antibiotic and anti-carbonic hyper-immune serum. Within the conditions of the current practice, the inoculation of certain vaccines, independently of the manufacturer, may determine anaphylactic at maximum 2-3% of the inoculated animals. It is recommended the observation of these animals for 1 – 2 hours post-inoculation and if necessary, the administration of an anti-hystaminic medicine.
Not to be mixed with any other vaccine. Other vaccines will be made 21 days before the inoculation of Antravac. After the inoculation, it is prohibited the use of medicines with a bactericide and bacteriostatic effect at the inoculated animals for 14 days – except for the post-inoculation complications. There have not been registered cases of transmission of the vaccine stem from an animal to another one. On the target species, the vaccine is inoculated strictly deep. The accidental intake on other ways or election places is followed by the surveillance and by the local intake of anti-inflammatory products.
During the first 2 – 4 hours after the inoculation, the animals must be kept safe and not be subjected to certain excessive efforts. The intake of vaccine in animals under nursing is followed by an insignificant decrease of milk production. The animals that had post-inoculation accidents are treated with medicines with a bactericide or bacteriostatic effect and are re-inoculated when the clinical state is appropriate. The vaccine is brought to the room temperature and is agitated for homogenization before the use. It is used a sterile instrumentation for the intake.
The vaccine is used after opening within 8 hours. The accidental inoculation of the operating staff needs an emergent medical consult and surveillance.
It is kept at the refrigerator (2 – 8°C), protected against light and frost. Not to be used after the expiry date, marked on the label from the phial/ box.
Injectable suspension in glass or plastic phials, including 20 ml with 100 conventional doses.
