PHARMACO-THERAPEUTICAL ACTION

Amoxicillin is semi-systemic penicillin with bactericide action to a large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is resistant to the chlorine hydride and is absorbed from the intestine better than the ampicillin, 93% of the orally administered dose arriving in the circulation and issuing the optimum efficient plasmatic concentration. It diffuses well in the tissues and organs, the average bisection time being 1,7 hours. It is removed by urine on the rate of 86% under an un-changed form.

Horses, goats, lambs, kids, swine and poultry (hens – young replacement, broiler, turkey hens and pheasantt).

 

INDICATIONS

The treatment of gastro-intestine, respiratory, urinary infections.

 

POSOLOGY, ADMINISTRATION WAY AND MODE

The drug is administered orally in water or milk for 3-5 days in calves, lambs, kids , horses and poultry ( chickens – young replacement, broilers ) and swine if administered for 5-7 days as follows:

In horses , calves, lambs, kids , pigs:

Administration in drinking water or milk : 10-12 mg as / kg bw / day

- 60 % Amoxicillin 1 g / 50 kg body weight ( for the first 2 days repeated every 12 hours ) .

- 60 % Amoxicillin 1 g / 75 kg bodyweight ( next 2-3 days repeated every 12 hours )

Birds:

- 20 g of 60 % Amoxicillin / 400 liters of water for chickens up to 14 days of age for 3-5 days

- 20 g Amoxicillin 60 % / 200 liters of water for chickens older than 14 days, for 3-5 days

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS, CAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS

It is not administered for the poultry that produce eggs for the human consumption. It is not administered for the penicillin allergic animals. It is not administered for the rabbits, cavies and hamsters. It is not administered in case of hyper-sensitivity to the active substance or Excipient. The penicillin are among the safest antibiotics, taking into account the toxicity over the organs. On the Penicillin sensitive animals, there may be foreseen allergic or anaphylactic reactions. The product must not be administered as that.

On the treatment in mass, by fodders or drinking water, it is recommended the preparation of pre-mixes, for an appropriate homogenization. To ensure a correct dosing, the body weight must be established as precise as possible. The medicine water must be entirely consumed, on the preparation day. The administration during the pregnancy and lactation with will carefully made. It is not administered concomitantly with chloramphenicol, macrolide, sulfonamides and tetracycline antibiotics. No clinical symptoms occur on the double doses.
